Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
Meat Sauce
Ingredients:
1/2 lb. ground beef (browned)
1-16 oz. tomato sauce
1-6 oz. tomato paste
1 can stewed tomatoes
2 cloves garlic (crushed and minced)
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
1. Brown(saute) ground beef in a medium sauce pan, drain excess fat.
2. Add garlic to beef and saute until garlic is cooked through.
3. Add tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes, tomato paste and olive oil.
4. Simmer, then add salt, sugar, oregano and Italian seasoning.
5. Simmer for 10 minutes on low heat. Season to taste.
6. Need more sauce? Just add cans of tomato sauce and adjust seasoning.
Pasta Preparation
1. In a large stock pot, bring to boil approximately 6-8 cups of water.
2. When water is at a ROLLING boil, bubbles are constantly rising and
cannot be stirred down, add pasta.
3 Cover stock pot and turn off heat, let sit for 10-15 minutes, or
until pasta is AL DENTE ( not too hard and not to mushy).
Al Dente means “to the tooth”. Pasta should have a texture when eaten.
4. Drain pasta in colander. Transfer pasta back to pot.
5. Season with 1/2 tsp. salt and 2 Tbsp. olive oil. Gently mix , this will prevent the pasta
from sticking together.
