provide good health.
Nutrients- Carbohydrates
Fats
Proteins
Vitamins
Minerals
Water
*Nutrients are found in all kinds of foods we eat.

Provides energy to your body, cushion body parts, protects organs. 1 gm=9 calories
Saturated Unsaturated
-From animal sources-mono & poly
beef, pork, fish, chicken -from plant sources
-saturated w/ hydrogen-liquid at room temp.
molecules-oil
-lard
solid at room temp.
Protein
2 types-Complete, Incomplete
Provides energy to your body. Builds muscles. Proteins are made of Amino

Phosphorus- dark leafy green vegetables
Potassium- fish, meat, bananas
Iodine- iodized salt, seaweed
Most foods provide some minerals
Water- most important nutrient
-70% of human body is water
-3-4 weeks w/o food
-3-4 days w/o water
We lose water all the time through respiration
-8 glasses/day suggested- helps in transportation, cooling, body processes.
