FREE FORM GINGERBREAD COOKIES
 
 
 
INGREDIENTS:
 
 
1/2 cup plus 1 Tablespoon shortening                
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/3 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (not fresh)
 
 
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and molasses, beat well.
3. Combine all dry ingredients in to a small mixing bowl, making sure
    all ingredients are mixed.
4. Add flour mixture, gradually to the creamed mixture, shape into a
    ball.
5. Divide dough into equal parts for each group member.
6. Using a sheet of waxed paper, flatten portions of dough,using flat part
    of palm, and cut with cookie cutter or shape by hand. Decorate with
    baking candy.
7. Bake 10 to 15 minutes.
